Whitelaw’s was established in 1973 and operates from custom-built premises in Stonehouse, closely situated to the M74.
Years of experience and investment in our people and modern, high-quality buses and coaches are key factors of our outstanding reputation in providing local buses services throughout Lanarkshire, school transport and group travel on organised outings, weddings and tours throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe for inbound and internal markets.
George Whitelaw established the business in 1973 with a taxi and minibus service, ably assisted by his wife Sandra. The business grew to be one of the largest and most reputable, privately owned coach companies in Lanarkshire.
In the late ’80s, the company registered to operate a number of local bus services, many of which, are still operated today.
Today, the company is still owned by the Whitelaw family – now on its second generation of family ownership. The three family members that remain in the business, work at the forefront of the business in the management, operations and engineering departments and carry on the endeavours to deliver a high quality of service across the business for all customer groups.
Vehicle types and styles have changed over the years and what had originally been passenger-carrying vehicles for all types of work are now quite different with buses being built specifically for local service work and coaches to deliver more bespoke leisure and event travel. Whitelaw’s have always been at the forefront of introducing the latest, high quality and modern buses and coaches into their fleets – often a first in Scotland!
The business continues to deliver both bus and coach services. The main operations of the business are now very different than in the ’70s and ’80s with the main operations delivering local bus services, followed by school transport provision then coaching.
